........1 year, 1 location, 4 seasons, 75 images........
I was stuck in a creative rut, I was having the photographic equivalent of the writers block. Call it what you will, the feeling is still the same, and it ain't nice. I just wasn't feeling the love for photography, despite knowing that it's a passion that will stay with me for life. I'm not a ''morning person'' by any stretch of the imagination, despite my 2 sons dragging me out of bed repeatedly at 6am (or earlier), I hate having to get out of bed before my body is fully ready, which would ideally be around 11am if I had my way. Call it a waste of a day but I love my sleep! Anyhow, I'd been tipped off by my friend and fellow photographer, Martin Birks, http://www.martinbirksphotography.co.uk , about a local area of woodland that looked to have potential. It was September 1st 2017, I set my alarm and headed out to be there before first light. Upon arrival I couldn't believe the beauty of the place, I honestly didn't think that areas of woodland so gorgeous could be found so close to home. The array of trees, grasses and heater was sublime, and the conditions were as close to perfect as you could wish for. I came away from that morning with the largest collection of 'keepers' that I'd ever done in one session! It was fair to say that a little project was borne out of that trip, I wanted to return during promising conditions over the next 12 months and see what images I could take away with me. Fast forward 12 months, to now, and I've managed to capture of collection of 75 images that I'm pretty pleased with. I was lucky enough to be there during some gorgeous conditions covering all 4 seasons, not to mention during the ''Beast From The East'' where I thought that I going to get snowed in. Making that collection of images certainly helped get me through the last 12 month and gave me something to focus on. Admittedly, the Summer months were tricky, but they always are for me due to the lengthy daylight hours. Throw in months of sunshine and a superb World Cup and that's enough of an excuse for anyone not get out as much as they should've done. I'll leave this blog short and sweet, but I guess the point of it was to tell those that have, or are feeling the way I described at the beginning, to give themselves something to focus on, a central point to build some images around, be it a single lens, locations or simply even a particular tree or mountain that they feel they can create something from that will keep them motivated. Oh, and don't be shy to explore your local area, you may find one of two hidden treasures during your searches. Thanks for reading, you can view the full collection by clicking the "Project' tab at the top of this page. Until next time.............................
